THE ASSOCIATION OF GLOUCESTERSHIRE BUSINESS GROUPS LAUNCHES NOVEMBER 2016
From the 1st November 2016, a new business support group will ‘hit the roads’ throughout Gloucestershire. This new group will be known as AGBG – the Association of Gloucestershire Business Groups.
It has been set up to support and act as a backbone to the 16 independent Chambers across Gloucestershire to run network and skills events to connect and signpost. The critical key message is that these events are ‘open to all’: ALL business groups, ALL business owners, ALL working in Gloucestershire.
The idea of Claire Thayers of Claire Thayers Associates, it now involves full support from the 16 Chambers, partners, to date, include Market Town Forum and FSB and sponsorship from Gloucestershire Business Show (www.gloucestershire-business-show.co.uk), Fosters Events (www.fostersevents.co.uk), Breeze and TWOGS (www.twogs.co.uk) as well as a voluntary team of organisers.
Claire comments, “It’s crucial we tell everyone that the morning event programme is open to all. We want to reach out and ask for participation and endorsement across business and business groups alike. We have divided the region into 5 clusters and will aim to deliver regular business network events once a month into each of the clusters. This networking meeting will be accompanied by a varied programme of business skills workshops.”
The first event, entitled ‘Effective Writing for the Web’ will be held on Wednesday 16th November, at Hayles Fruit Farm, Winchcombe, GL54 5PB. This will be a morning event, running from 9.30 am to 12.30.
Michael Ratcliffe comments, “As CEO of Cheltenham Chamber, I see how Cheltenham needs to up its game and promote itself as a high quality place in which to live and work …. and I know all our towns in the county face similar issues. I hope that the Association can be innovative and share best practice, encourage discussion, encourage peer-to-peer support, increasing revenue streams for all our business groups who work towards supporting their own local economy.”
Claire continues, “The AGB is made of a team of volunteers, who are seriously dedicated to supporting all businesses and business groups across the county. With our regular programme of networking and training events, we hope to provide a unique and a new approach forum that will help businesses to meet, discuss, collaborate, innovate, promote, participate and grow. The first event takes place on 16th November, North Gloucestershire Group at Hayles Fruit Farm. There is a small charge of £12.50 pp to cover a Business Brunch Box and any associated venue costs.
