The team behind a pioneering Gloucestershire business met for the first time this month to celebrate the company’s 15th birthday.

The staff who work for GlosJobs and sister site, glosinfo, are home-based across the county but enjoyed the opportunity to meet each other face-to-face, swap stories, and share slices of birthday cake.

The team were joined via webcam by colleague, Eunice, works for the Gloucestershire employment website online from her home in South Africa.

Glosjobs founder and director, Belinda Wilson thanked her colleagues for their contribution at an event at The Pavillion in Hatherley, and awarded ‘The Glossies’ in the wake of the recent Oscars.

“Our web-based businesses are ideal for flexible remote-working, and we have been keen to embrace innovative ways to sustain and grow the business,” said Belinda.  We’re lucky to have a very competent and committed team and it’s wonderful to see them come together in one place to celebrate our birthday,” said Belinda.

Innovation has always been central to the success of the business, which was launched by Belinda and her partner, Dan back 2001.

“We saw a niche in the market with the change in technology,” explained Belinda.
“While looking for a job, Dan discovered that on searching a website, the results showed jobs nationally and it was difficult to narrow down the jobs locally. He realised that it should be possible to browse jobs in a local area of Gloucestershire and came up with the browsing concept for categorisation of jobs.
“Of course, these days everyone looks for jobs online, but it wasn't the case back then. Everyone was talking about the World Wide Web, but we realised that you could focus on a local market as much as a worldwide one.

“In starting in 2001, we were ahead of some websites that people take for granted now. Wikipedia also launched in 2001, but Facebook not until 2004, You Tube 2005 and Twitter in 2006.

“We have gone from being a small start-up to a team of 12 working on and We have gone from no users and advertisers to logging over 100,000 visits per month and advertising for over 3,600 Gloucestershire companies.”

CLG Engineering in Stonehouse was one of GlosJob’s first clients back in 2001.

Managing Director, Harry Nash said: “We’ve been recruiting for staff on GlosJobs for the last 15 years and they have a terrific circulation, we find them excellent. We’ve filled most of our posts through GlosJobs since they started and we’ve had over 60 applications for some positions.”

Since it was founded in 2001, GlosJobs has advertised over 358,000 roles.  In 2015, GlosJobs logged 1,346,281 visits from 483,551 users and received 12,730,372 page views.
