The Fine Art Course of the School of Art & Design at the University of Gloucestershire is offering businesses the opportunity to display original artworks in their offices. The scheme provides works on loan from the university’s leading art students to businesses in the Cheltenham area.

“We have had schemes running with various companies over the past 20 years,” commented Bob Davison, Senior Lecturer Fine Art. “We have been fortunate in carrying out these events with Kraft, Willans, Grant Thornton, Davy Son and Jones, Bretherton Elgood, Wynne Jones to name a few. We are now starting another programme and looking for new partners for the scheme.”

Works of art (e.g. 8 – 12 or more) are placed in a company office, perhaps the foyer, boardroom or corridor, for a period of one year. The works are selected by the company or by faculty members on its behalf.

In return the Fine Art Course asks businesses for a small donation to fund prizes, including scholarships, travel awards or artwork materials. The university will help promote the prize, which can be named after the company, through PR opportunities and its communication channels. The usual donation is £500 – £1000, but the university is flexible regarding scale and size of the artwork installation in meeting each business’s needs and requirements.

Mr. Davison concludes, “This is an economical way of enlivening any office surroundings while providing a fantastic scheme for students to show their work in a professional setting and enhance their career prospects.”
