Gloucestershire law firm Willans LLP has hit its fundraising target of £5,500 for its charity of the year, Sue Ryder. The staff at the company chose the palliative and end of life care specialists and its Leckhampton Court Hospice because of its close ties to the local community.
In the last 12 months, Willans staff have raised £6831.20 through a series of fundraisers including cake bake-offs, dress-down days and a half marathon. One staff member raised money by selling vegetables grown on his allotment.
The local Gloucestershire community also helped out by participating in the Willans fundraising events, including a clay pigeon shoot, a Christmas raffle and the firm’s annual quiz night, which attracted 200 local business professionals.
Paul Symes-Thompson, partner and member of Willans charity team said: “We are so pleased to be able to support the Sue Ryder Leckhampton Court Hospice with its great work, and help them to continue the free care they provide. Nearly everyone at Willans has a close friend or family member with a connection to the charity.”
We also want to thank everyone who contributed prizes for our charity auctions and raffles, and attended our fundraising events. We couldn’t have raised it without your help.”
Elise Hoadley, Hospice Director, Sue Ryder Leckhampton Court Hospice added; “What a generous donation! The efforts of Willans LLP staff and the support of the community will help us to give local people incredible care at the end of their lives, and provide support for their families.”
Sue Ryder Leckhampton Court Hospice services include a 16 bedded inpatient unit, a Day Hospice, and ‘Hospice at Home’ services.
