A Cheltenham-based financial adviser, Neil Gayler of Neil Gayler & Co., was honoured at The Symponia Crystal Dolphin Awards for his expertise and commitment to advising elderly people and their families on the complex workings of care fees planning.
Neil, a member of Symponia, the industry body which was formed to safeguard standards of later life financial planning, was awarded the Good Care Group Commitment Award.  The award came with a restaurant voucher worth £300 but Neil asked that a donation of an equivalent value be made to Dementia UK instead.
Sarah Pennells, journalist, presenter and founder of, hosted the Awards at Symponia’s National Conference on 13th May at The Royal Horseguards in London; the conference was attended by around 120 professionals from the long term care and later life professions.
Commenting on his recent success, Neil Gayler said: “Care fees planning is a very challenging environment. Providing cohesive financial advice for what is arguably one of the most difficult and distressing life stages requires a great deal of commitment and dedication.  The right financial advice can literally change lives and there are many more options available now.  On a day to day level, the work itself is very rewarding but it is always nice to get official recognition, too, so I am very pleased to win this award.”
Neil Gayler & Co has taken the significant step of establishing a specialist division dedicated to providing independent advice on all aspects of later life advice and care fees planning. Neil himself is an expert in helping clients to determine the most appropriate way of paying for their care with the fundamental objective of enabling them to choose where they are cared for with the peace of mind that they will be able to meet rising care costs indefinitely. He is a Master Practitioner with Symponia as well as being an Accredited Financial Adviser with SOLLA, the Society of Later Life Advisers, and is the only such adviser in Cheltenham and one of only three in the whole of Gloucestershire.
