SEMINAR SERIES - WHY YOUR INTERNET PRESENCE OR DIGITAL FOOTPRINT IS IMPORTANT TO YOU AND THE CYBER CRIMINAL (16 November 2017)
11.30 - 12.30
Presented by: David Woodfine - Company Name: Cyber Security Associates
Understanding your Internet presence, also known as your ‘digital footprint’, is an important information security aspect for every individual and organisation. Your digital footprint could be exploited by a cyber criminal for financial gain, identity theft, spam attacks or simply to gather information on you and your friends. The presentation will look at how easy it is to gather information and give the cyber criminal a means to attack. This will be followed by a demonstration of email attacks using information available from the Internet. Finally, the presentation will provide advice and guidance on controlling and securing your digital footprint.
David Woodfine has been working in the Information Security and Systems environment for the past 30 years, firstly as a commissioned officer in the Royal Air Force and more recently as a Cyber Consultant in the commercial sector. He was responsible for the leadership and operation of the MOD’s Security Operations Centre, providing 24/7 cyber defence for over ½ million devices worldwide. He has also provided input into the National Cyber Security Programme and has helped develop the UK National CERT Capability.
As the Director for Cyber Security Associates, David now uses his experience and knowledge in assessing how any business can approach the complex problem of cyber security.
